Alex stated that " We have no mid-week matches now so,preparation wise,we have no excuses" I for one will be glad to see them back and feel a lot more confident of retaining the Premiership. Peter Schmeichel is optimistic he will be fit after missing the last two games with a hamstring injury and Ryan Giggs could also be in contention after an eight-game absence. Nicky Butt should be available again after missing last Saturday's win over Wimbledon with a calf strain and Ferguson will also check on the fitness of back victim Gary Pallister, who has been out for the last six games. The champions have struggled in Giggs' absence and since he has been injured they have gone out of Europe and the FA Cup while Arsenal have cut their Premiership lead to three points. United have won just two of the eight games they have played since he limped off during the home win over Derby on February 21 after scoring the Goal of the Month. The Old Trafford outfit have also been boosted by Roy Keane's continued recovery. The club captain is doing everything in training - except tackling - but Ferguson has maintained all along that he will not risk bringing him back before the end of the season. From: Mark Green Subject: Title Race To: MUFC@LISTSERV.INDIANA.EDU Hi Guys, Arsenal's 1-0 win at Bolton on Tuesday night has really turned the title heat up. We're now just three points clear having played two games more, and we play twice now before Arsenal play again against Newcastle on April 11th. They will then have four games in hand! I think realistically that our two games next week will effectively decide whether we retain our title or not. It's six points or bust. If we claim a maximum six points, it will leave us nine points clear of the Arse having played four games more. That will put real pressure on Arsene Whinger's boy's to obtain maximum points from their games in hand.......not easy with a couple of tough away fixtures thrown in at Blackburn and Liverpool! I think in this situation we would go on to win it. I realise six points from our next two fixtures will not be easy. Blackburn will be up for it big time on Monday night after their 4-0 drubbing at OT earlier this season (Although we have an excellent record at Ewood Park), and Liverpool is always a tough fixture. However, these games are where titles are won and lost and Utd usually produce the goods when the chips are down. Although a draw at Ewood Park and a win against Liverpool would normally be a fair return, it would leave us just seven points clear having played four games more. Now before anyone shoots me down in flames, I fully realise that games in hand are not points in the bag, but with Arsenal's remaining home fixtures we need to put as much pressure on them as we possibly can........ Anyway, hopefully we'll have Giggs, Pally and Schmeichel back on Monday night and normal service will be resumed. I won't tip Andy to score a brace 'cos every time I do he never does! Come on you reds, the time is nigh - Show some true champions class and put the Arse bandits in their place.....
