UNITED EURO TIE HANGS IN BALANCE
MANCHESTER UNITED will not know until
Friday whether their Champions' League clash
next week with Polish side LKS Lodz will go
ahead at Old Trafford.
It all hangs on a row between the Polish government and UEFA, over
the suspension by the Warsaw government of Polish FA officials.
UEFA believe the decisions have been made on political grounds and
want their reinstatement before Polish football is allowed to compete
in UEFA competitions.

Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson has confirmed that £4.5million new boy

ALEX FERGUSON has issued a hands off warning to any vultures planning
a swoop on his United squad by insisting: "None is for sale."
On tour in Norway, United boss Fergie delivered his message after a
days of trying in vain to add to his squad - rather than off load any
of his stars.
Declining to comment on Patrick Kluivert's decision to stay at AC
Milan or United's interest in Dwight Yorke, he did say: "Nobody is for
sale at the moment.
"That's all the players I have - I am trying to build a squad to cope
with challenging for three major domestic honours and the Champions
League.
"We suffered last year in that respect when we lost players to injury
and fell away."

I want United, says rebel Pierre
Thursday, August 6, 1998
Pierre Van Hooijdonk has issued a 'come-and-get-me plea' to Manchester
United manager Alex Ferguson.
The Nottingham Forest striker, who has accused his club of lacking ambition,
says: 'l'd love to play at Old Trafford.'
He remains unrepentant about his decision not to return to the City Ground
and insists he will stay in Holland 'for many months if necessary'. The
28-year-old Dutch World Cup striker says: 'I am determined to see it through
to the end. If it takes many months I really do not care because I am
adamant I will not go back to Forest.'
Van Hooijdonk, who is training with his home-town club NAC Breda, also
interests Turkish club Fenerbahce but says: 'United are just the sort of
club who want to win things. Anybody would love to play at Old Trafford and
I am no different.'
He claims Forest manager Dave Bassett sympathises with his situation,
saying: 'He is furious the club sold Kevin Campbell but says his hands are
tied.'

Subject: Van Hooijidonk FENERBAHCE IN BIG-MONEY MOVE FOR PIERRE
PIERRE VAN HOOIJDONK'S self-imposed exile will be over within a week according
to the latest reports in Turkey where Istanbul giants Fenerbahce are offering
£7million for the unhappy Forest striker.
The Dutchman is currently training with his former club NEC Brada, refusing to
return to the City Ground in protest at the £3million sale of Kevin Campbell
to another Turkish outfit Trabzonspor.
Well now it seems the disgraceful van Hooijdonk might get his way and end up
in the same country as Campbell afterall - as laded Fenerbahce prepare
tempting £2million-a-year salaray offer.
A club spokesman confirmed to us this morning that multi-millionaire President
Aziz Yizdirim, after missing out on his first target Stan Collymore last week,
is now gunning for van Hooijdonk.
He said: "We expect Pierre to be playing for Fenerbahce by the second Saturday
of the new season. It is right we are making an offer for the player."
And manager Manager Dave Bassett looks set to accept the bid after declaring:
"Forest won't crumble if van Hooijdonk goes for a decent price."
However, he will have to get moving to replace the lost strikeforce. The delay
on Campbell's £3million move to Trabzonspor's was cleared up yesterday thanks
to a personal cheque from their President Memet Ali Yizmal.
The ex-Arsenal star is expected to touch down in Istanbul around lunchtime
today after missing the last flight yesterday evening.
On Tuesday, Campbell had refused to fly to Trabzon on Tuesday after the the
transfer money reach the Forest account in time causing major confusion both
here and there.
